Instead of grouping by the year, consider grouping magazines by the month.

scoring with 1-5 stars.

CUT ARTICLES OUT with particular interest to you. File under categories in an expandable file or place in several sheet protectors (and file in a binder).

GIVE AWAY SLIGHTLY USED ones you haven't referred within a year or so, to (relatives - friends - libraries - offices).
|
|
4x6 RECIPE CARDS and clipped recipes from magazines (and newspapers) fit nicely into sleeves of small photo albums.

FAMILY FAVORITES!
|
SCRAPBOOK recipe cards, photos! Catch kids and/or spouse helping in the kitchen, making family favorites!
|
|
|
UTILIZE MAGAZINE WEBSITES, search archived recipes (i.e.) I have years of Taste of Home issues, yet I'm no longer a subscriber, STILL I have found a whole lot of back issue recipes on their Website.
Then print the recipe or copy & paste (Ctrl C & Ctrl V)
into a word processor.

SCAN PAGES magazine and/or cookbook, to import recipes and photos into .pdf files, and then (hyperlink) those file names into an “Index”, personally created in your word processor.
Scanners often come equipped with OCR software (optical character recognition) translating images of handwritten or typed text into machine-editable text!

BACK UP, Back Up, Back Up
your computer files. Save everything in MY DOCUMENTS, on your computer. Regularly back up files onto a portable USB Drive, and then monthly onto CD's or DVD's. The time you forget... will be just before your hard drive decides to crash!

COOKBOOK SOFTWARE available to create cookbooks, search recipes and obtain nutritional analyses. Read the help files to learn how to create and import your personal cookbooks.
Personal cookbooks should NOT be saved in the software's files, instead store in them in your MY DOCUMENTS folder on your computer (and back up onto CD's or DVD's regularly).
